November 18th 2014 marks the ten year anniversary of the passing of The Hunting Act, which prohibits chasing wild mammals with dogs for sport. The Real Countryside Violence

2015-01-04_18-34-40

On Tuesday 27th of January the Blackmore and Sparkford Vale Hunt illegally killed a fox. The incident was caught on film by Dorset Hunt saboteurs. Sabs briefly heard the hounds in cry before seeing them ripping a fox apart at Densham Farm, Bishops Down near Sherborne, Dorset. The dead fox is then taken away by a masked hunt supporter, believed to be Ben Doggrell, the huntsman’s son. Armchair activism: a case for clicking on….

I have spent some of my time this year adding my support to online petitions and writing online to my MP about issues that concern me. I don’t have a lot of money to donate to what I consider to be good causes but I am a strong believer in the power of Social Media to exert pressure on politicians, companies and even whole Governments. We all know that there is a negative side to the internet, it can provide a platform for those who would promote hate and violence, but I believe it can be a dynamic mechanism for good. Let’s face it, how long does it take to click a few links on a computer and how remarkable are the results sometimes?

Is Iain Duncan Smith “not clever enough”

In his book “In It TogetherMatthew d’Ancona claims that George Osborne questioned Iain Duncan Smith’s IQ and confided to allies “You see Iain giving presentations, and realise he’s just not clever enough.”

It could be argued that a politician that gave us the bedroom tax, a housing policy that is eloquently summed up by Caroline Lucus , as “nasty, ineffective, counterproductive and unjust ” has clearly demonstrated a degree of ineptitude.
